Overview

Barton were contracted to provide an 8 week earthworks and stabilisation package at Loughborough University Science and Enterprise Park’s (LUSEP) new development site in Charnwood, Leicestershire.

The contract for Wates Construction saw the completion of contracted topsoil strip, excavation and filling, earth wall reinforcement, soil modification and stabilisation for a new office building and car park.

The reinforced green wall was created by modifying the topsoil with RoadCem, to produce suitable engineered fill to avoid importing primary materials and reducing export of topsoil off site, minimising the lorry movements to and from the site, therefore reducing the impact on the environment by retaining the materials on site and reducing our carbon footprint. The wall was designed by Barton’s key supply chain partners Rodgers Leask and Maccaferri.

More information on the site’s development plans can be found here: https://lusep.co.uk/new-developments
